“National Franchise Appreciation Day”
August 31st, 2018 has been marked as National Franchise Appreciation Day, a day to help build awareness of the franchise business model and the contribution these businesses make within the communities in which they operate.
Appreciation for franchising should not just be a highlight on this day, but a recognition each and every day. After all, according to the economic forecast report distributed by the International Franchise Association, there are approximately 745,000 franchise establishments in the United States with a 1.9 percent growth rate predicted in 2018. The franchise sector is expected to contribute about 3% of the nation’s GDP in nominal dollars in 2018, and it is predicted that the franchise sector employment growth will outpace the rest of the economy.
But what is a franchise?
A franchise is an opportunity to own and operate an independent business utilizing a recognized brand name with a system and framework for operating such a business. Franchises take advantage of the support and programs offered by a franchisor.
Why Invest In A Franchise?
Starting a business on your own certainly has its pros and cons. However, according to Entrepreneur Magazine, statistics show that 25 percent of start-up’s fail within their first year, 50 percent of the remaining fail within five years and approximately only 30 percent of the remaining last ten years. Whereby the purchase of a Franchise with an established brand and system may help to reduce the risks of a business start-up.
